Bluffton’s Oyster Factory Park recently underwent over $900,000 worth of upgrades. The town celebrated the enhancements on Thursday, May 12, 2016, with an official ribbon cutting. For many years, the Oyster Factory has been used as a boat launch to the May River. Inadequate parking and a single ramp made access to the river challenging.

Because the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park is the gateway to the May River, the town knew improvements were necessary. The improvements include expanded parking and a wooden walkway to the water. The latest improvements include a brand new finger dock and a 2 lane boat launch. According to the Mayor of Bluffton, Lisa Sulka, the improvements increase the value of Bluffton and provide an openness to the May River which is essential to the town and its residents.

These improvements made to the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park are just a few of the improvements the town has made over the last few years. Continued growth in Bluffton, new construction, and an increase in real estate sales has prompted the town to make many enhancements including additional parks, road improvements, and the creating of a designated downtown area.
