Charter One Realty, the leading real estate brokerage in the Lowcountry, is giving back to the community with a commitment to donate $36,000 to Volunteers in Medicine. Volunteers in Medicine HHI, a non-profit 501(c)(3), provides free comprehensive medical and dental health care to patients who cannot afford these services, and who qualify for care at VIM. By providing free medical and dental to those in need, VIM is making a tremendous impact on the lives throughout the coastal Lowcountry.

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, the partners of Charter One Realty presented VIM with a check for $18,000. Charter One Realty announced they would contribute an additional $18,000 in the following year totaling $36,000 to Volunteers in Medicine in 2017 and 2018 combined. The donations are used to help VIM orchestrate the organization’s three largest and most important fundraisers during the year.

The Charter One Realty – VIM partnership began in 2015 with the presentation of a check for $15,000 to the local organization. Then in 2016, the company contributed an additional $15,000 to VIM.

Volunteer caregivers at VIM give freely of their time and talent to touch the lives of thousands – whether patients are facing an urgent need, a devastating disease or seeking to improve the quality of their life. Patients receive the care that they need in a warm and welcoming environment, and many of them, in turn, give back, in response to the compassionate care that they have received. Over three-quarters of VIM’s patients are employed in local businesses that support the HHI tourism industry. The organization relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations, and neither seeks nor accepts government funding. VIM, which has a budget of $2,000,000, provides over $12,000,000 in services – and is the model for other medical clinics around the country. There are now approximately 97 medical clinics around the country based on the VIM Hilton Head model.
