A little about Matt… Born and raised on Hilton Head Island, Matt has a special love for the Lowcountry and coastal lifestyle. He has been fortunate to call the Lowcountry home for over 30 years. After graduating from Hilton Head Christian Academy, Matt attended The University of South Carolina in Columbia where he earned two bachelor’s degrees in Corporate Finance & Entrepreneurial Management.
Prior to joining Charter One, Matt enjoyed a successful 13 years with Allegis Group (Aerotek), the largest privately held staffing & recruiting company in the US. He was a consistent top-performing business development executive, where he was responsible for strategic sales, workforce solutions, delivering world class service to his clients, and implementing strategies for Fortune 500 companies specific to the Aviation, Construction, Engineering & Government Services industries. Matt prides himself on prioritizing the needs of his clients while putting his extensive, local knowledge to work on their behalf. Matt has always felt a special calling to serve others and previously sat on the board for the Don Ryan Center of Innovation as a Director for 3 years as well the board for the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) for 6 years in Savanah fulfilling roles as the STEM Director, President & Past President.
A little about Kara… With over 10 years of experience in managing and building businesses, Kara is a warm, energetic and versatile professional who strives to create value and impact in everything she takes on. Kara was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia before attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia (Go Gamecocks!). It was there that she met and fell in love with Matt. Kara began her professional career managing large real estate properties for different management firms in Columbia, Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah.
After being lucky enough to live in several cities around the Lowcountry and Coastal Georgia, Kara and Matt settled in beautiful Old Town Bluffton in 2013. With its live oaks and Spanish moss, pluff mud and palmetto trees, and breathtaking May River views, what’s not to love? There is beauty and charm everywhere you look. Passionate about fitness and wellness, Kara had a big dream to bring a unique fitness franchise to Hilton Head. It was in 2014 that Pure Barre Hilton Head Island opened its doors and her dream was realized. Providing an amazing client experience while helping clients achieve their fitness goals, Kara grew the studio from a start-up to a top-performing location. In 2017, Kara opened up her second location — Pure Barre Bluffton. In 2019 Kara sold her businesses to focus on their family. But you can still catch a fitness class of Kara’s around Bluffton!
When not working, Matt and Kara enjoy being with their two precious sons — Cohen (6) and Huck (3). You can find the Raehn family spending time at the sports’ fields, attending church, playing golf, and hanging out with friends at the beach.
