Tom Jackson, Agent

Tom has spent almost thirty years specializing in Lowcountry properties with over $800,000,000 in sales in premier communities such as Colleton River, Belfair Plantation, Berkeley Hall, Oldfield, Hampton Lake, The Daufuskie Island Club, Haig Point, and Palmetto Bluff. Tom grew up near Atlanta, GA, the son of a commercial pilot and homemaker. Tom played college football at the University of Georgia, graduated in 1981 with a degree in business. He immediately began a successful career in sales throughout the southeast, later working in the mortgage banking business and then touring the globe in the European Auto Delivery industry. These early experiences were tremendous preparation for his career as a real estate broker. “I have been blessed to travel all over the world, but I can honestly say there is no place I’d rather live than the South Carolina Lowcountry. I love getting to know people, showing them all the Lowcountry lifestyle has to offer, and helping them find just the right place to call home.” Tom and his family feel blessed to live in this vibrant coastal community where they enjoy boating on the river, beautiful days walking on the beach, playing golf on some of the greatest courses in the world, a rich cultural heritage, and spending time with friends and neighbors in Old Town Bluffton or at one of the many exciting events on Hilton Head Island. Tom’s love for the Lowcountry began in the early 1980’s, when his parents retired to beautiful Hilton Head Island. In 1985, after many visits to the island, Tom was offered a real estate sales position with the Melrose Company during the initial development stages of the golf communities on exclusive Daufuskie Island. Tom and his wife, Tiphany, met and got married in the Lowcountry and lived on Hilton Head for five years before moving to the mainland with their three children in 1996. Tom and three other successful real estate professionals from Hilton Head foresaw the inevitable boom of the sleepy little town of Bluffton and started Gateway Realty in 2001. Gateway was the leading real estate company in the mainland communities for fourteen years. Tom and his business partner, Johnny Ussery decided to join forces with the most successful real estate company on Hilton Head in 2015, and Charter One is now the largest real estate firm in the area with unparalleled sales and service. As the Lowcountry grows and flourishes, folks from all over the world are discovering this special place in the heart of the south, and Tom and his team have the expertise and reputation that keep him at the top of the industry. As Tom points out, “Tourists have always come to this area because of the natural beauty, the beaches, the golf and tennis. Now folks are settling here to live because of those things and also for the safe, friendly neighborhoods, the rich culture, and the desire to find a tranquil, welcoming place and a slower-paced, simpler lifestyle. This is no longer just a place to retire, but also a wonderful place to raise your children – the Lowcountry is truly an ideal setting for any stage of life.” Tom is committed to excellence using his years of experience in the area real estate market and his understanding of people to match the right buyer to the right property. As a member of the Multiple Listing System, Tom diligently markets and successfully sells luxury properties throughout the Lowcountry. He is a past president of the Hilton Head Association of Realtors, a Trustee of the Realtors Political Action Committee, a member of the Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board, an active member of Hilton Head Presbyterian Church, and involved in various civic endeavors and community outreach programs. His clients, whether buyers or sellers, often become lasting friends because he earns their trust and delights in producing results above and beyond their expectations.
