Heroes on Horseback (www.heroesonhorseback.org) is a local non-profit that enriches the lives of children and adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities by providing safe, professional and ethical equine-assisted therapeutic activities. The organization, located at 100 Stillwell Road in Bluffton, offers a number of programs to meet the individual needs of those with disabilities throughout the community, providing services based on each participant’s needs, abilities and interests.

Mark your calendars!  The South Carolina Department of Insurance will host two consumer events in the low country this coming June.  As Hurricane Season 2016 approaches, we encourage all South Carolinians to review their insurance policies and prepare for the upcoming storm season.  “Hurricane season begins June 1st and continues throughout the month of November.  Consumers should review their insurance policies, revisit or create a home inventory and update their family emergency plans now so that they are prepared,” advises Ray Farmer, Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance (Department).

Getting to and from the popular Bluffton Farmer’s Market just got easier. On Thursday, Bluffton Farmer’s Market organizers debuted their new trolley system. Parking for the Bluffton Farmer’s Market every Thursday has long been an issue. This free alternative, picks up at the Bluffton Village and drops off at the entrance of the market, avoiding congestion. The trolley runs every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and picks up every 15 minutes. Vendors are already pleased with the results from the first day and believe this will attract additional customers to the market.

Getting to the 2016 RBC Heritage just got a little easier. The Town of Hilton Head Island, Coligny Plaza and the RBC Heritage partnered together to create an alternative option for shuttle service into Harbour Town. When the RBC Heritage begins on April 11, 2016, tournament spectators will be able to board a new shuttle service located at Coligny’s Beach parking lot and it will take them into the heart of Harbour Town.  

This complementary shuttle service will provide golf fans quick and easy entry to the tournament. Service will run on a regular basis between 6:30 am and 9:30 pm throughout the tournament dates.
