Charter One Realty, the leading real estate brokerage in the Lowcountry, is giving back to the community with a donation of $18,000 to Volunteers in Medicine. Volunteers in Medicine HHI, a non-profit 501(c)(3), provides free comprehensive medical and dental health care to patients who cannot afford these services, and who qualify for care at VIM. By providing free medical and dental to those in need, VIM is making a tremendous impact on the lives throughout the coastal Lowcountry.
In December of 2018, the partners of Charter One Realty presented VIM with a check for $18,000, rounding out their commitment to contribute $36,000 over the past two years. “VIM is grateful to the team at Charter One Realty for the many years of outstanding support of the clinic. Charter One has partnered with us for close to 25 years with donations totaling more than $200,000. I thank each of you for helping us to give the gift of good health to our neighbors who need us most, keeping the community we love to call home healthy and strong.” said Ginger Allen, Volunteers in Medicine.
“Charter One Realty is proud to support Volunteers in Medicine in its mission to serve people in the Lowcountry during their time of need,” said Paige Rose, Chief Marketing Officer at Charter One Realty. “We believe our donations should benefit the communities where we live and work, and that is why we are committed to giving back to our community continuously. We are proud to help support VIM and the role they are playing in the community.”
Volunteer caregivers at VIM give freely of their time and talent to touch the lives of thousands – whether patients are facing an urgent need, a devastating disease or seeking to improve the quality of their life. Patients receive the care that they need in a warm and welcoming environment, and many of them, in turn, give back, in response to the compassionate care that they have received. Over three-quarters of VIM’s patients are employed in local businesses that support the HHI tourism industry. The organization relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations, and neither seeks nor accepts government funding. VIM, which has a budget of $2,000,000, provides over $12,000,000 in services – and is the model for other medical clinics around the country. There are now approximately 97 medical clinics around the country based on the VIM Hilton Head model.
