Your July Lowcountry Events Lineup: Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort & Savannah

If you're new to the Lowcountry, here's a fact nobody tells you on the home tour: the calendar matters almost as much as the square footage. July around here doesn't slow down for the heat. It just moves the party outdoors, adds fireworks, and calls it a Tuesday. Whether you're settling into your first Lowcountry summer or you've been doing this since before Shelter Cove had a Tiki Hut, here's what's worth circling on the calendar this month.

Hilton Head Island

Fourth of July, All Day. This year marks America's 250th, so the island is leaning in hard. Kick things off with the Hilton Head Firecracker 5K at 8 a.m. at Jarvis Creek Park, then catch the Fourth of July Parade in Harbour Town (8:30-10:30 a.m.) and the Carnival right after, complete with a watermelon-eating contest because nothing says patriotism like fruit-based competition. At 1:30 p.m., look skyward at Salute From the Shore, a military flyover along the beaches. As evening falls, Gregg Russell's Fourth of July Concert plays under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town (8-9 p.m.), and fireworks light up the Harbour Town Lighthouse around 9 p.m. Over at Shelter Cove, HarbourFest's 4th of July Fireworks run 6-10 p.m. with a special Shannon Tanner patriotic show.

Sunset Celebration – Cranford & Friends, July 10. Weekly outdoor concert series at Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Bring a chair, leave the to-do list at home.

Party in the Park + Car Show, July 9. Lowcountry Celebration Park hosts live music, classic cars, food trucks, and kids' activities. A solid evening if your idea of romance involves a 1967 Mustang.

Gullah Heritage Festival, July 11. Held at the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island, this one's the real deal: traditional food, storytelling, music, and a deep dive into the culture that shaped this island long before golf carts did. Worth the visit even if you've lived here for years.

HarbourFest at Shelter Cove, weekly through August. Live music, fireworks every Tuesday night, kids' activities, and Shannon Tanner doing his thing on Thursdays. It's the closest thing the island has to a standing dinner reservation with the whole community.

Bluffton

Town of Bluffton 5th Annual Independence Day Celebration, July 3. Starts at 5 p.m. with a pre-party at Martin Family Park, building toward fireworks viewable from Martin Family Park and DuBois Park. Get there early; everyone has the same idea.

Spartina 449 Warehouse Sale, July 10. Held at Bluffton High School starting 9 a.m. Not technically a "local event" in the festival sense, but if you know, you know.

Back to School Expo, July 18. At Tanger Outlets, starting 10 a.m. A little early for back-to-school energy, but the Lowcountry doesn't wait around.

Slide Out of July, July 18. A kids' waterslide event starting 9 a.m. Exactly what it sounds like, and exactly what a July afternoon here calls for.

May River Shrimp Fest – Sunset Party, July 24. Oyster Factory Park, 5:30 p.m. onward. Craft beer, food trucks, live music, and shrimp the way the Lowcountry intended.

Farmers Market of Bluffton, every Thursday, 12-5 p.m. Local produce, prepared foods, and live entertainment in the heart of Old Town. A weekly reminder of why people move here in the first place.

Beaufort

Beaufort Water Festival, July 17-26. This is the big one. Ten days of river races, sports tournaments, an arts and crafts market, live music, a talent show, a parade, and a parade of boats, because apparently one parade wasn't enough. It's been running for 70 years, which tells you something about staying power in a town that takes its waterfront seriously.

Salute From the Shore, July 4. Same flyover tradition as Hilton Head, viewable from Beaufort's coastal stretch.

If you're house hunting in Beaufort this month, plan your showings around Water Festival traffic. Trust me on this one.

Savannah (a couple worth the drive)

Savannah's Waterfront Independence Day Celebration, July 4. Live music on three stages, including Plant Riverside District and Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, followed by a 20-minute fireworks show launched from a barge on the Savannah River at 9:30 p.m. This year's edition carries extra weight as part of the city's 250th anniversary programming. Get downtown well before 6 p.m. if you want a decent spot.

The Princess Concert, July 9. At the Johnny Mercer Theatre. If you've got little ones who consider Disney royalty a personality trait, this one's a guaranteed win, and a good excuse for a day trip into the historic district.

The Takeaway

July in the Lowcountry isn't about escaping the heat. It's about embracing the fact that nobody here lets ninety-five degrees and high humidity get between them and a good festival. If you're considering a move to this stretch of coastline, this is the month that shows you exactly what you're signing up for: front porches, fireworks over the water, and a farmers market that somehow never runs out of tomatoes.

Thinking about putting down roots somewhere on this calendar? We'd love to help you find the right spot to watch the fireworks from your own backyard.
