When it comes to fresh, the Lowcountry offers the best seafood restaurants for local delicacies like oysters and blue crab. Our waterways are full of delicious fish species and so many of our waterfront eateries get their catches fresh every day.

The name gives it all away, but this spot is homier than a typical restaurant! It is full of food, fun, and adventure and it really is a backyard. With a recently updated outdoor seating area, tasty fare, and live music, this backyard restaurant is a great option for families. Their menu focuses on traditional regional seafood dishes and they make things extra enjoyable with a welcoming family atmosphere.

Hudson’s Seafood House On the Docks

No list of Hilton Head Island seafood restaurants is complete without a mention of Hudson's on the Docks. Their menu is full of options caught that day, prepared freshly and with tons of flavor. The atmosphere is as classically Lowcountry as it gets. Not only do they have their own oyster farm, but they give back to the community and to their environment in measurably impactful ways. A meal at Hudson’s is always enjoyable!

Bluffton Family Seafood House - Bluffton, SC

Also known as Toomer’s Family Seafood House by the Bluffton Oyster Co., this family-owned business has operated the market, Bluffton Oyster Co., for over 100 years. Even with national recognition and subsequent popular tourist spot, it is still a must-include for this post of top seafood restaurants. 

The company features a market and a seafood restaurant and takes pride in providing only the freshest catch. When dining in, try the May River Oysters, the daily catch family-run business has been harvesting for years. You can’t go wrong with any entree choice, because all the catch is fresh as can be!

Lost Local - Beaufort, SC

New to the dining scene in Beaufort is a casual taco bar and tasty seafood restaurant called Lost Local. They opened in summer 2020 and offer tons of authentic Mexican-style tacos with their own flavorful twists. Blackened fish tacos are one of our personal favorites, but you’ll have to try them for yourself! Located right in the heart of downtown Beaufort on Bay Street, you can check out Lost Local for fresh seafood tacos, fun drinks (it has a full bar), and a great vibe.

What’s better than fresh seafood? Eating fresh seafood while looking at the water! At Lady’s Island Dockside, it’s all about that water view from the dock, the epitome of Lowcountry dining experience. 

This location has been operating since 2012, and the now-closed original location opened in 1990. From She Crab Soup to nightly seafood specials and steak, eating at Lady’s Island Dockside in Beaufort is sure to bring you some joy.
