We call Hilton Head Island home; others call it the #1 ranked island in the Continental U.S. From the gorgeous white sand beaches of Hilton Head Island, SC to the award winning communities on the Mainland, the Lowcountry truly has it all. And now with non-stop direct flights from many cities, getting to and from the Lowcountry is a breeze.

Take a look at the recent awards recently given to Hilton Head Island, communities on the Mainland and several of our topnotch resorts. Then let us show you why we love to call the Lowcountry home.

Travel + Leisure Recognizes Hilton Head Island as a Best Island…Twice.

It’s no secret to those of us who live here why Hilton Head Island real estate is so attractive. Travel + Leisure has noticed too, ranking Hilton Head Island #1 in “The Best Islands in the Continental U.S.” survey. As one reader said, “Look forward to crossing the bridge to the island…You know you are arriving at a very special place.”  Well, I think we all knew that already. That’s why we live here, but it’s sure nice to know that others are talking about Hilton Head Island that way. You can read more about that story here.

Hilton Head Island also ranked #8 in T+L’s “The World’s Best Islands” survey. Here’s what they had to say: “Not all the islands on the list are remote or exotic. Hilton Head, off the shore of South Carolina, is all plantation-style architecture, golf courses, and Lowcountry cuisine. And as a key stopover on migration routes, Hilton Head is a birder's paradise.” You can read the whole story here.

The Inn at Harbour Town and Montage Palmetto Bluff Awarded Best Hotels.

Being so well known for first class hospitality it comes as no surprise that Hilton Head Island and the greater Lowcountry region also appear on T+L’s lists of “The Best Hotels in the South” and “The 100 Best Hotels in the World.” The Inn at Harbour Town ranks sixth on the “South” list and 86th on the “World” list. Here’s some of what T+L had to say: “Meanwhile, a past guest of the Inn at Harbour Town in Hilton Head, South Carolina found the staff to be ‘consistently wonderful.’ Another commented that ‘you knew they were there to make your stay memorable.’” Meanwhile, Montage Palmetto Bluff in neighboring Bluffton came in at #9 on “The Best Hotels in the South” as well. Read more about both stories here and here.

Here at Charter One Realty we obviously put a lot of effort into helping folks find homes, villas, and lots for sale on Hilton Head Island. But we focus heavily on real estate in Bluffton, SC. After all, it is one of the fastest growing towns in South Carolina. Let’s turn our attention to the Mainland because congratulations are in order for two fine Lowcountry private communities.

Oldfield and Hampton Lake Honored as Best Communities of the Year.

RealEstateScorecard.com’s 2016 Bliss Awards - The Best Communities of the Year has honored Oldfield and Hampton Lake as “Best South Carolina Community of the Year” and “Best Lake Community of the Year” respectively. Citing Oldfield’s “relaxed country-like atmosphere” and amenities like the Outfitters Center, River Club, and “nostalgic” General Store, Real Estate Scorecard paints an enchanting picture of the community. Homes for sale in Oldfield range in price from about $400,000 to over $2 million, so there is plenty of variety, and there are available homesites for sale for under $100,000. Charter One Realty congratulates Oldfield!

Hampton Lake’s signature 165-acre man-made lake is at the heart of the Bliss Awards’ selection as “Best Lake Community of the Year,” described here as meandering through this Bluffton real estate development’s neighborhoods “like a ‘Venice of the Lowcountry.’” Homes for sale in Hampton Lake range in price from the low $300 K’s to just over $1 million, and homesites start around $80,000 and range to the mid $200 K’s. The private lakefront community’s family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere, resort-style amenities, affordably priced homes, and proximity to Old Town Bluffton and greater Bluffton make Hampton Lake an excellent Bluffton real estate choice for people and families of all ages. Congratulations to Hampton Lake!

All in all, not a bad year for Hilton Head Island and greater Lowcountry real estate and hospitality, and it’s only half over! Congratulations, again, to all of the winners from all of us at Charter One Realty.
