We started a search for Hilton Head properties a few months ago when we were connected to Daniel and Deb Cort. My wife and I immediately felt very comfortable with his tremendous knowledge of the Island and the best places to look. He was able to walk us through properties while we were in FL and his attention to detail was amazing as we bought a property without actually walking through it. We were able to do this because of the trust and faith we quickly put in him and his team. When we started the process of the offer and negotiation, his wife Deb took over and her attention to detail and follow up was AMAZING. Again, we were doing this from 4 hours away and needed someone to represent us as they would a family member. That is truly what they have become to us. We then got a number of suggestions from them on handymen and rental agents and they have all been spot on. I cant give enough of a 5 star rating here as I would love to give more. They treated us like family and when you are making a large purchase it can be overwhelming. They truly went the extra mile to do more than asked!
We recently purchased a home in Hilton Head Island. We are moving from out of state so that presented its own set of problems. The transaction couldn’t have gone smoother. Let me start by saying we have bought and sold several properties and normally don’t use a realtor. When we purchase our next few rentals on the island we will absolutely use Christina Forbis. She thought of everything, she was responsive, kind, genuine, honest, and upfront. She knows how to do her job and then exceeds your expectations. We had an extraordinary experience buying our Bluffton house through Marisa Cain with Charter One. She was diligent, responsive, flexible, competent, and always courteous. She was also incredibly even-keeled, helping guide us and calm us through the anxiety-producing process of buying a house in an unknown area. We were living in Northern Virginia, had just retired, and wanted to move somewhere ‘down south.’ Bluffton was one of several areas we wanted to look at during our 'southern tour.' We essentially cold-called Marisa and struck lucky. With little notice, she spent over 2 full days with us, educating us about and driving us through the various developments. She gave advice about the neighborhoods, health care, restaurants, etc. She had a good sense of the area and of the pros/cons of each development and which might best meet what we were looking for (which we weren't very clear about). When we returned to Virginia, she set up a continuing search to send us links to houses that fit our criteria until one jumped out to us. We quickly drove down and fell in love with it. She expertly guided us through the competitive buying process and was very patient with our many questions and requests. She attended inspections on our behalf in our absence. When she left on an extended vacation that coincided with our closing date, she left us in excellent hands with Diana Sroufe, the head of the office, who quickly picked up where Marisa left off, providing continuity and helping us through a last minute panic attack about a tax issue we misunderstood. Even while Marisa was gone, she was on top of everything, responding from Italy during her vacation. And after the sale, both Marisa and Diana have continued to provide us with resources, contacts, and useful information to help us get settled. They have made us feel like family rather than just another sale. We give them our highest, unqualified recommendation.
We have had the pleasure of working with Andy Reed on three real estate transactions. We have bought, sold, and bought again with Andy. It took us a couple of years to decide to sell our first house and buy something else. Andy was extremely patient with us. We never felt pressured to do something we weren’t ready to do. Our introduction to Cristina was through the purchase of our new home in Port Royal, in which she represented the sellers of the house we ended up buying. We agreed to a dual agent relationship whereby she handled both sides of the transaction. Admittedly, we had some concerns about conflicts of interest but those were quickly allayed as she handled matters like a true pro. We never felt like we were being played off against the other side, and that all negotiated points were balanced with an aim to closing the deal. We had confidence in her ability to represent our interests fairly and genuinely throughout a process that went smoothly and with hardly any issues. Even after the closing, Christina continues to be a resource. As we are new to the HHI community, she’s provided valuable information that has enabled us to transition easily into our new home. In my experience, agents representing the home seller often have to wear many hats but most of all have to be connected to the market – Drew Butler is certainly connected to Indigo Run. We hired Drew, and he earned every cent of his commission – and then some. I was selling my mother’s house long distance on her behalf. It had a couple of challenges that required many showings to get a handful of offers. The first contract fell through. My mother unexpectedly passed away after the second contract was signed, but before the closing, leaving the deal in limbo. Drew proactively put me in touch with an excellent estate attorney to help keep the transaction on track, and a versatile handyman to make necessary repairs. He arranged for the removal of furniture that no one would take. He was in constant communication – all the while displaying a highly polished personality and incessant wit. The end result was a house that sold within the prescribed timeframe, for more than the asking price. Drew is a person worth getting to know – even if one does not need a really, really good real estate agent.”
