Hilton Head Airport

2019 has been an exciting year for the Hilton Head Airport. Not only did it welcome new airlines offering direct flights to five cities, but the airport secured a federal grant for $10 million to expand and "modernize" the terminal. Beaufort County Airports Director, Jon Rembold, made the grant announcement in late May, saying it will be used as an "infrastructure investment," according to the release.

The grant will fund the terminal expansion," specifically targeting increased airline traffic, meeting the needs of a growing number of airline customers while keeping within the historical, geographical and budgetary boundaries of Beaufort County's development plans," Rembold said.

Currently, in the design stage, the project is expected to be complete in the next three to four years. The goal of the renovations is to provide a comfortable, customer-oriented experience with new ticketing counters, concessions, and shopping.

There are two other projects in the works at the Hilton Head Airport - parking and a new entrance. The proposed projects may double the parking, and the entrance will get a facelift with updated signage and landscaping.
