Curtains Dress Rehearsal – Sponsored by the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to see a play before it even opens! Join BHPS and see the dress rehearsal of “Curtains” at the May River Theatre.

The musical is “set in 1959 Boston and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of ‘Robbin’ Hood of the Old West’ is murdered during her opening night curtain call. It is up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself.”

The dress rehearsal begins at 8:00pm on November 3, 2016. Tickets are free to members of BHPS and $20 to non-members.

10th Helping of Music to Your Mouth

In our 10th year, we’ve gone a bit nostalgic. Over the past 10 years, we’ve created more than just amazing food, drink, and music – we’ve fostered a family of people that take Southern food and culture just as seriously as we do, and who understand that Southern fare is rooted in much, much more than just grits and sweet tea. (Although we love those both dearly). Through Music to Your Mouth, we bring together some of the biggest names in Southern food, drink, and music — and pick up some newcomers along the way – to explore old recipes, new traditions, and stories that make the South so special. We then wash it all down with libations from vintners, distillers, and brewers who hone their craft and pair their punch with stories of discovery. For a full list of events and tickets, visit our website.

Since 1992, Second Helpings has “rescued” more than five million pounds of food destined for landfills and given it to agencies that feed the disadvantaged in Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton Counties. More than 160 volunteers from Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Sun City and Beaufort gather perishable goods daily from local restaurants, caterers, resorts and grocery stores and deliver the food to approximately 65 local non-profit agencies. To date, Music to Your Mouth has contributed more than $115,000 to Second Helpings to help feed more than 750,000 local residents from Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties in Southeastern South Carolina.
