Get to know Charter One Realty IT Specialist, Jim Miller.

Jim is a vital member of our Charter One Realty team, providing our sales professionals and staff in-house IT support. Jim is always on the go, ready to provide immediate response to IT issues, big and small.  Jim provides quick and friendly support to the entire company. 

What brought you to the Lowcountry?

I was stationed at the Beaufort Marine Corp Air Station as an Air Traffic Controller in 1979 and fell in love with the area.  When I was discharged in September of 1981, I decided to spend the winter here instead of back in Pittsburgh.  36 Winters later, well what can I say?

What are your passions in life outside of work?

I have a motorcycle that I ride, though not often enough. Also, like riding my bicycle when the weather permits.  Music can be a passion for me depending on my mood, I like a wide variety of music from metal to classical to EDM (Electronic Dance Music).

Who Inspires you?

My children, obviously.  Aside from that, no one person and definitely no celebrities, but I have a group of men that I meet with on a fairly regular basis and we discuss all manner of personal issues.  I draw tremendous strength and inspiration from this group.  Also, different people inspire me at different times when I am actually paying attention to what they are saying and not just waiting for my turn to talk.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Aside from sarcasm, none really, can’t sing, can’t dance, can’t play guitar (but I own 3) and can’t juggle.

Why Charter One Realty?

Charter One Realty was already like family.  I had been working with the brokerage through an outside IT company since 2000 and already had the relationships in place, not just professionally but also personally.  When Charter One Realty was looking to bring the IT in-house, it was a great fit for me.

How long have you been with the company?

One year as an employee as of February 1, 2018.  

What is your favorite part about the people you work with?

It is very difficult to pick one thing as my “Favorite”, but if I had to, I would say that everyone seems to be happy.  The entire team greets each day with an optimistic attitude, the work environment is upbeat, and everyone strategizes well together. It is a friendly and accommodating atmosphere. 

Tell us about the friendships you have made at Charter One Realty?

While I have known many of the Charter One family for the past 17 years, new people have joined the company and have been a joy to spend time with. Now here full time, I have had the opportunity to spend more time with and gotten to know the people on a more personal level.  I have friendships here that I feel will be with me for the rest of my life.  Not just coworkers – but family.
