The Hilton Head Island Airport underwent a 700-foot runway extension project and airlines are jumping onboard to offer direct flights in and out of the airport. Starting on March 31st, United began operating non-stop flights to Washington Dulles International Airport two times a day. On April 6th, United will open up direct flights to Chicago O'Hare International Airport twice a week and New York/Newark Liberty International Airport once per week.
As noted in our blog, Welcome Back Delta: Here's What You Missed, Delta Airlines announced their return to the Hilton Head Island airport with six daily flights to and from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport starting May 23rd and seasonal Saturday service to New York's LaGuardia Airport beginning June 8th.
Additionally, American Airlines offers three flights a day to and from Charlotte, NC. Visit the Hilton Head Island Airport website for more information.
