Save the Dates: Coastal Property Insurance Marketplace Annual Information Session and Public Hearing and Storm Ready Preparedness Expo in Bluffton

Mark your calendars!  The South Carolina Department of Insurance will host two consumer events in the low country this coming June.  As Hurricane Season 2016 approaches, we encourage all South Carolinians to review their insurance policies and prepare for the upcoming storm season.  “Hurricane season begins June 1st and continues throughout the month of November.  Consumers should review their insurance policies, revisit or create a home inventory and update their family emergency plans now so that they are prepared,” advises Ray Farmer, Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance (Department).

To assist residents with their emergency plans, the Department is hosting the annual coastal property information session and hearing regarding the status of the coastal property insurance market Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The session and hearing will be held in the Bluffton Municipal Building Auditorium located at 20 Bridge Street, Bluffton, SC 29910. This event offers residents an opportunity to meet with staff to learn more about the coastal property marketplace and get answers to their questions.
