Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors Honors Sampson as 2015 Realtor of the Year, Marking Third Time Sampson is Honored with Prestigious Real Estate Industry Award
Charles Sampson, a Partner/Agent at Charter One Realty and a Founding Partner of Charter One North Realty, has been named “REALTOR of the Year” by the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors (HHAAOR). The award was announced and presented to Charles at the HHAAOR’s annual awards luncheon on December 8th on Hilton Head Island, which was attended by more than 150 people.
This marks the third time that Charles Sampson, a REALTOR® since 1985, has been named by the HHAAOR as REALTOR of the Year. He was also honored with the award in 1996 and 2004 – and has been the recipient of a number of other industry awards during his long career as one of the region’s most successful and trusted REALTORS®. A resident of Hilton Head Island since 1972, Charles has decades of experience as one of the areas’s top REALTORS® and has been an active member of the community for more than 40 years.
Charles was selected as “REALTOR of the Year” based on his proven leadership in five distinct categories: involvement in civic or community affairs; promoting a positive image of the Association and the real estate industry publicly; demonstrating leadership and earning the respect of fellow REALTORS® through professional business practices; displaying the highest degree of unquestionable integrity and moral character; and abiding strictly with the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. In addition to excelling in all five of these categories, Charles also ranks in the top 20 in MLS Sales.

Charles is a 30 plus year member of the HHAAOR and over the last year has actively participated on a number of HHAAOR events, including the REALTORS® Helping Real People Community Service project and chaired the 2015 REALTOR® Habitat for Humanity Build Blitz, were over 100 volunteers worked the three day Blitz. The HHAAOR raise over $70,000 for The Hilton Head Regional Habitat and this Build. A REALTOR® Service Award recipient since 1995 and is a Trustee of the South Carolina REALTORS Affordable Housing Licence Tag Fund. Sampson is a Board member of the local nonprofit organization, Experience Green, and was instrumental in the Association receiving in 2015 a $5000 Smart Growth Grant from the National Association of REALTORS® for the Hilton Head Island Baseline Sustainability Study. Sampson has served as HHAAOR President (in both 1999 and 2010), Secretary and Treasurer.
In addition to his work with HHAAOR, Charles is actively involved in the community. He currently serves as a Board member of the Hilton Head Island Economic Development Corporation (HHIEDC), Advisory Board of the Hilton Head Symphony, Experience Green Board, and is a member of the town of Hilton Head’s Bicycling Advisory Committee, the Hilton Head Plantation Farm Club and the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee. Sampson has served as the Chairman of the Lowcountry Community Development Corporation and past Chairman of the Beaufort County Consortium on Affordable Housing. He was a Founding Trustee of the Celebrity Golf Tournament, and has served as a Board Member of a number of other organizations on Hilton Head Island, including the Coastal Discovery Museum and the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. He has also been the Project Coordinator for the REALTOR’s 6 local Habitat for Humanity Blitz Builds, and has worked on 20 REALTOR Builds from Las Vegas, New Orleans to Mobile as well across the State of South Carolina. In the 1980s Sampson was named as Hilton Head Island Young Man of the Year. In 2006 Sampson was honored as the recipient of the Alice Glenn Doughtie Good Citizenship Award, presented by the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. He also appears regularly on WHHI-TV’s “Insight” to promote the community and local real estate. Sampson and his wife Frances are members of The First Presbyterian Church and both have been church officers. Frances is currently the President of the Frist Presbyterian Day School. The Sampsons have three married daughters and six grandchildren all of whom live in the Lowcountry.
