Daufuskie Island is now a destination that not only appeals to tourists and curiosity seekers but, more importantly, to buyers who may become new residents.
The Daufuskie Rum Company has tracked those visiting the Rum factory over the last two years and their world map now has pins in 45 countries. Island guests from all 50 states, plus all territories, have also enjoyed the wonders of Daufuskie. It really is amazing that this little island is attracting such world-wide interest. If you haven't visited this magical island it is time to do so.
It is Labor Day as I write this and a touch of Fall is in the air. The weekend started out with a bang as the winds and rain of Hermine blew through the island on Friday. Quite a few trees and lots of debris covered roads and lawns but there is no reported structure damage. It could have been worse if the storm had traveled a bit further to the east. And Friday evening there was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen on Daufuskie, followed by sunny and warm days for the rest of a perfect holiday weekend.
So, while it was great to have tourist and curiosity seekers, what is even more exciting is the fact that Buyers are coming and inventory is shrinking. It should be a record year for the island as sales are already equal to last year plus there are an additional 17 properties under contract, 9 of which are homes. With four selling months still left in the year, I anticipate we could achieve total sales about 150% higher than 2015. Not bad for a little island without a bridge.
At long last, there is a ferry service for Daufuskie Island The front porch has posted all the details as to the when, where, who and how much. Check out all the details at www.DaufuskieIslandFrontPorch.com.
