Anne Wilson Charter One RealtyFor Charter One Realty agent, Anne Wilson, real estate isn’t merely a line of work — it’s a calling. This top-performing agent has been representing buyers and sellers in the Lowcountry for more than 20 years, and she's established quite a track record. As a longtime resident of the Lowcountry, Anne offers her clients an insider’s perspective on the area.

Anne tells Charter One Realty about her affinity for real estate and her deep connection to the Lowcountry and shares some advice for buyers.

Charter One Realty: When did you know that you wanted to pursue a career in real estate?

Anne Wilson: When I began working for a developer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, my job was to meet and greet customers in the developer's Open Houses and I realized then how much I enjoyed the personal interaction with people.

Charter One Realty: What’s kept you in the business after your initial success?

Anne Wilson: I truly have a passion for Real Estate and I just love people. It’s so interesting to hear my clients' stories and learn about what they enjoy in life. I have found this career to be one of the most rewarding. I'm helping my clients find their dream home and to see the happiness and excitement in their faces is what makes me enjoy this industry so much.

Charter One Realty: How has technology changed the industry, and what does it mean for buyers?

Anne Wilson: Technology has its good and bad points. I believe people love to look at houses whether they are really looking or not. When they are really interested and narrow down their choices, and together we end up tweaking their list based on what they are looking for in a community and lifestyle. Therefore, I’m saying technology is a tool, but there is no replacement for a personal relationship and service. They are what makes it all work. You can never take that away from our business.

Charter One Realty: If you weren't working in real estate, is there anything else you could see yourself doing?

Anne Wilson: While I love my career in real estate, I've always had a knack for interior design. In many ways, the two flow hand in hand and I can help my clients reimagine spaces in terms of color, shape, and light. For sellers, it comes in handy as I can suggest staging options to transform a space to be appealing to any type of buyer.

Charter One Realty: What advice do you have for buyers looking in the Lowcountry?

Anne Wilson: My first advice is to find a full-time real estate professional in the area to help you understand each community and what they have to offer. We have some fantastic communities on both Hilton Head and Bluffton and each one has a plethora of amenities. When working with buyers, I suggest “let’s find your perfect neighborhood - community first." Once we've found the community, we hone in on finding that perfect home.

Charter One Realty: Where are you from originally, and how did you come to live in the Lowcountry?

Anne Wilson: I am originally from Columbia, SC, and most of my relatives are from Charleston. I can say that I have been near the Lowcountry all of my life. I was married here in 1988 so I’d say it’s in my “blood”.

Charter One Realty: How would you describe the vibe in the Lowcountry?

Anne Wilson: With all that we have it’s hard not to be HAPPY, I believe. The vibe here is laidback with a small-town feel. Although growth has been tremendous in our area, it still feels small and intimate.

Charter One Realty: What are some of your favorite aspects of life in the Lowcountry?

Anne Wilson: I love the May River! It seems to be the lifeblood of Bluffton, slowly winding through the bluffs and marshes. Beyond the river, the beautiful beaches of Hilton Head Island are just a 15-minute drive away. Who doesn’t love the beach! I enjoy having easy access to both.

Charter One Realty: Do you have a personal motto or mantra that guides you?

Anne Wilson: Be kind to others ALWAYS!

Charter One Realty: Please complete the sentence: “Home wouldn’t be home without . . .”

Anne Wilson: My Poogan “ Poo”,  our Promenade office mascot.
