Julie and Debbie Charter One RealtyOne of Charter One Realty's most dynamic duos, Debbie Wood and Julie Lynch, talk business, the Lowcountry, and the secrets to a successful partnership.

Charter One Realty: Tell us about your start in the business. How did the first year go?

Debbie Wood: Listed and Sold my first listing and got a $10,000 commission...thought this was going to be so easy! After being named "Rookie of the Year" by Sea Pines Real Estate Company, I envisioned nothing but "Success" in my Real Estate Future!!!

Charter One Realty: What’s kept you in the business after your initial success?

Debbie Wood: Once reality set in, I realized that the Real Estate business was not so easy...yet I found it very rewarding. I always tried to follow the Golden Rule and looked to local industry leaders (like Wedge) for inspiration and guidance.

Charter One Realty: What’s one common mistake you see prospective buyers make?

Debbie Wood: A Buyer finding the perfect property for them and not being "Ready or Willing" to go for it. I have seen many regrets over the "One that Got Away"!

Charter One Realty: What advice do you have for buyers looking in the Lowcountry?

Julie Lynch: Find the community that fits your lifestyle and then find a home in that community that fits your needs and where you will enjoy living.

Charter One Realty: How has your partnership, "Julie and Debbie, Teamwork by Design," given you an edge in the market?

Debbie Wood: There are few things in life that are more satisfying than finding a kindred spirit. It's even better when that person is someone you can work with every day. With our combined Real Estate expertise and artistic flair for staging, we formed "Julie and Debbie, Teamwork by Design.

Charter One Realty: Can you talk about how your personalities complement each other?

Debbie Wood: 12 years later, we continue to enjoy a harmonious partnership, and it shows! We have fine-tuned our business model to make every transaction as seamless as possible. We work as a tight-knit team interacting with every client with a "hands-on" approach.

Charter One Realty: Where are you from originally, and how did you come to live in the Lowcountry?

Julie Lynch: I am originally from Columbus, Ohio. We came to the low country when my husband retired. Best decision ever!

Charter One Realty: Please tell us about your neighborhood and your home.

Debbie Wood: I've lived in Old Town Bluffton for 20 years. I love being able to go everywhere in my golf cart...shops, galleries, restaurants and church. Our grandchildren love coming to our home and running across the street to the park. We enjoy boating on the May River and spending a day on the sand bar.

Julie Lynch: I live in Riverbend, a private, gated, waterfront community of 300 homes that is part of Sun City. Riverbend offers the feeling of a small community plus the many activities and clubs in Sun City. I enjoy taking my dog for a ride on the golf cart and stopping to visit with all the neighbors. There are many social events and definitely a sense of community.

Charter One Realty: Can you tell us why your community is so special to you?

Debbie Wood: We truly feel a connection to Old Town...we love the oyster roasts, local fundraisers and community dinners. We are involved with the Arts and Seafood Festival, which was founded by my husband, Dan Wood. Old Town Bluffton is still a "state of mind" to us that brings much joy and sense of well-being.

Julie Lynch: Riverbend is one of the most friendly communities I have ever lived in.

Charter One Realty: How would you describe the vibe in the Lowcountry?

Julie Lynch: A slow, laid back atmosphere and beautiful landscape. With the beach, it has a feeling of a year-round vacation.

Charter One Realty: What are some of your favorite aspects of life in the Lowcountry?

Julie Lynch: Beautiful landscape with a fabulous beach.

Charter One Realty: Please complete the sentence: “Home wouldn’t be home without . . .”

Meet the Agent Debbie WoodDebbie Wood: Our back porch...where friends and family love to gather all year round. We call it "Porch Time" and 'What Happens on the Porch, stays on the Porch."
