Dear Friends,

The coast is clear in the Lowcountry. Residents have returned to the Island and businesses have opened their doors. Public roads were clear on Tuesday as residents were allowed to return to their homes on Hilton Head. Many residents experienced downed limbs and slight debris. Some areas in the Lowcountry experienced flooding, but for the most part, the damage to our area was minimal after Tropical Storm Irma.

We continue to monitor and track Hurricane Irma as it makes its way through the Atlantic. Still, the path is uncertain but what we do know is that preparation is key, and Gov. Henry McMaster urged citizens to prepare. We have compiled a list of helpful resources you can use to stay informed as the storm moves toward land. We are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma as it makes its way through the Atlantic. We still don't know what if any impact the hurricane will have on the Lowcountry. In preparation, Beaufort County, weather and emergency management officials at the local, state, and federal levels are all closely monitoring the storm. Gov. Henry McMaster declared a State of Emergency on Wednesday afternoon and stressed the need for citizens to prepare.

As we follow the path of Hurricane Irma, the next few days will help determine the impact it may have on the coast. You may want to prepare your homes and businesses for the possibility of evacuation. Below are resources you can use to stay informed.
